These Marketplace Guidelines set out the standards for listing items, for buying and for participating in the Marketplace of FAST ISB Portal. They supplement the Marketplace provisions of the Terms & Conditions and the Community Guidelines.

Marketplace is a student discovery and contact service. The Portal does not process payments, hold funds, provide escrow or arrange delivery, and is not a party to any sale. FAST ISB Portal is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by FAST-NUCES.

1.Role of the Portal

1.1

Marketplace allows Users to publish Marketplace Listings for items and to contact one another. Listings are free of charge. The Portal Operator is not a buyer, seller, agent, broker or escrow provider and does not take possession of any item.

1.2

Any payment, handover or delivery takes place between the Users concerned, outside the Portal. The Portal does not guarantee a seller's identity, an item's condition, authenticity, ownership or availability, payment, delivery, completion of a transaction, a refund, a return or a warranty.

1.3

Available Marketplace Listings can be browsed without an Account. An Account is required to post a listing, to contact a seller, to save a listing or to report a listing.

2.Listing Standards

2.1

Each Marketplace Listing must meet the following standards:

  • Title. A clear title of 3 to 80 characters that names the item.
  • Category. A category that fits the item, selected from Electronics, Books & Academic, Personal, Hostel & Lifestyle, Vehicles & Accessories and Other.
  • Condition. A condition that is stated honestly, selected from New, Like new, Good, Fair and For parts.
  • Price. A single price in whole Pakistani rupees, from 1 to 10,000,000, that is the actual asking price.
  • Description. A description of up to 1,000 characters that is accurate and complete.
  • Photographs. Up to six photographs, each in JPEG, PNG or WebP format and no larger than 5 MB.
2.2

A seller may have up to twenty active listings. A listing remains active for thirty days and can be renewed by the seller.

3.Accurate Descriptions and Condition Disclosure

3.1

A listing must describe the item as it is. Known defects, damage, missing parts, repairs and limitations should be stated in the description. The condition selected must correspond to the actual state of the item.

3.2

Where an item is sold with accessories, packaging or documentation, the listing should say which are included. A listing must not suggest that an item is new, genuine or complete when it is not.

4.Pricing Transparency

4.1

The price shown must be the price at which the seller is prepared to sell. A listing must not use a nominal price, an unrealistic price to attract attention, or a price that the seller does not intend to honour.

4.2

Where a price is negotiable or depends on a condition, the seller should say so in the description.

5.Ownership and Authority

5.1

A seller must own the item or have the right to sell it. A seller must not list an item that belongs to another person without that person's permission, and must not list stolen property.

5.2

Where law imposes registration, transfer or licensing requirements on an item, including a vehicle, the seller is responsible for meeting them.

6.Photographs

6.1

Photographs must be genuine and must show the actual item that is offered. A photograph taken from another source, a stock image or an image of a different item must not be used to represent the item.

6.2

A photograph must not contain explicit or inappropriate material, must not show another person without that person's permission, and should not show personal details such as an address, a telephone number or an identification document.

7.Prohibited Listings

7.1

The following may not be listed:

  • illegal goods;
  • dangerous goods;
  • stolen items;
  • counterfeit goods;
  • weapons; and
  • any item that the seller does not own or does not have the right to sell.
7.2

A listing that breaches the Terms & Conditions or the Community Guidelines is also not permitted. Lost & Found must not be used to buy, sell or advertise items, and Marketplace must not be used to advertise matters unrelated to the sale of an item.

8.Misleading, Duplicate and Spam Listings

8.1

A listing must not be misleading. A seller must not post the same item more than once, must not repost an item that is already listed in order to gain visibility, and must not use listings for unrelated advertising or to direct Users to other platforms.

8.2

Telephone numbers and email addresses should not be placed in a listing. Buyers contact the seller through the Portal.

9.Buyer and Seller Conduct

9.1

Sellers should respond honestly, keep listings current, and mark an item as sold or remove the listing when it is no longer available. Buyers should read the listing carefully, ask questions before arranging a meeting, and inform the seller if they no longer wish to proceed.

9.2

Both parties must communicate respectfully. Pressure, deception, harassment and repeated unwanted contact are not permitted, and a User may block another User at any time.

10.Off-Platform Transactions and Safety

10.1

Payment and handover occur outside the Portal, and the Portal cannot protect a User against loss in an off-platform transaction. Users should take the following precautions:

  • meet in a public place on campus;
  • inspect the item before paying;
  • avoid paying in advance for an item that has not been seen;
  • be cautious of requests for payment before a meeting, of pressure to act quickly and of offers that appear unusually favourable; and
  • do not share passwords, one-time codes or financial account details.

11.Sold, Expired and Removed Listings

11.1

A listing is active, sold, expired, removed or under review. An active listing becomes expired after thirty days unless renewed. A sold listing remains visible for a limited period and is labelled as sold, and an expired or sold listing opened by a direct link is labelled accordingly and its photographs may no longer be available.

11.2

A listing that is removed or under review is not shown to other Users. A seller can mark a listing as sold, renew it or remove it. The Portal Operator may place a listing under review or remove it where it appears to breach these Guidelines.

12.Reporting and Blocking

12.1

A signed-in User can report a Marketplace Listing from its listing page for one of the following reasons: scam or fraud, prohibited item, misleading information, duplicate or spam, harassment, or other. A User can report a given listing once, cannot report the User's own listing, and may add up to 500 characters of detail.

12.2

A User can block another User. Listings are then hidden between the two Users. A User or a message can also be reported from the Connections and Chat screens.

12.3

A Marketplace issue can also be reported by email to wamizphantom@gmail.com. The following categories prepare the subject line.

13.Enforcement

13.1

The Portal Operator reviews reports and may place a listing under review, remove it, restrict a User's access to Marketplace or suspend the Account, as described in the Terms & Conditions. Disputes about payment, condition or ownership are resolved between the Users concerned, and the Portal Operator is not obliged to mediate them.
